Article I Name
Name: The name of this club shall be known as the AMERIND Club
Article II Purpose
Purpose: The purpose of the Amerind Club is to promote a better understanding among all students of our Native American heritage for a promising future.
Section 1: To help students maintain an interest in school.
Section 2: To enable students to participate in a variety of activities.
Section 3: To learn rules and manners which demonstrate respect for fellow students, staff, teachers, and administrators.
Section 4: To promote justice and a feeling of well being among fellow students.
Section 5: To encourage self-sufficiency, personal development, cultural awareness and self esteem among the students of CGUHS, CVCHS and Desert Winds alternative school.
Section 6: To attain financial support through fund-raising, requesting contributions and through financial grants for the operation of club activities.
Article III Membership
General Membership
Section 1: The club is open to all Native American and interested students currently enrolled at CGUHS, CVCHS, DWHS.
Section 2: To
participate in club activities, members must be eligible as defined by school
polity.
Section 3: All school rules and regulations will be followed when participating in all club activities.
Section 4: Suspension of club membership and dropped from active roll will result in case of the following conditions:
A. Missing 7 meetings in one semester;
B. Having a GPA of less than 1.5 in any semester;
C. Accruing two out of school
suspensions (
Section 5: An active member is a member who has attended 50% of the club meetings. A student may be an active member if he or she is in sports, has extended day classes or is in the Alternative School as long as he or she participates in club activities that are outside the club meeting times.
Article IV Officers
Section 1: Elected
Offices
Elected office positions are open to all members of the AMERIND Club who can come regularly to meetings. The elected officers of the AMERIND Club will be
A. President
B. Vice President
C. Secretary
D. Treasurer
E. Historian and Public Relations Officer
Section 2:
Qualifications
A. All officers must be in good standing in school.
B. All officers must be passing all subjects at the semester to continue in office. Grade checks will be done at the 9 weeks and at the semester.
Section 3: Elections
A. Elections of officers will take place at the second meeting of the year.
B. All business will follow Robert’s Rules of Order.
C. A secret ballot vote shall be administered for each officer.
D. Officers may hold only one office at a time.
E. Should an officer prove ineligible, resign or leave school, a new election will be held to elect a new officer.
F. Nominations for officers are open to all eligible AMERIND Club members.
Section 4: Duties and
Responsibilities of Officers
A. President: It is the duty of the President to run all meetings of the AMERIND
Club, oversee club activities, and make decisions for the well being of the AMERIND Club.
B. Vice President: It is the duty of the Vice President to perform the duties of the President in the absence of the
President. The Vice President assists the President in meetings.
C. Secretary: It is the duty of the Secretary to record minutes of all club meetings and elections. The Secretary reads the
minutes of the previous meeting unless waived. The Secretary must turn in attendance and minutes to the Sponsor at the end
of each meeting.
D. Treasurer: It is the duty of the Treasurer to be responsible for all fundraising and financial accounts of the AMERIND Club.
The Treasurer will keep a log of club expenditures and make a monthly report to the club on the club finances.
E. Historian and Public Relations Officer: It will be the duty of the Historian / Public Relations Officer to take pictures
and maintain a club album. It is also the duty to post notices regarding club meetings, events or activities throughout the year.
Section 5: Removal of
an Officer from Office
A. If an officer receives an F or No Credit for any class at the semester, he or she is ineligible to hold office.
B. If an officer is placed on Out of School Suspension, he or she will be removed from office.
C. If an officer misses four meetings in one semester, he or she will be removed from office.
Article V Meetings
Section 1: Time and
Date of Meetings
The time and date for meetings will be decided with the Sponsor and by club approval every year. The Public Relations office will be responsible to post notices about meetings.
Section 2: The
Executive Council
The Executive Council shall consist of the 5 elected officers of the club. An Executive Council meeting may be called with the sponsor’s approval.
Section 3: Official
Business
Official business of the club shall be conducted when there are 2/3 of the active club members present.
Section 4: Conduct of
Meetings
Meetings will be conducted using Robert’s Rules of Order unless there are less than 2/3 of the club members present. In that case, an informal meeting will be held and no official business will be voted on.
Section 5: Financial
Business
All financial business must be voted on by the club members with sponsor approval. All activities, pageants and field trips must be voted on by the club members with sponsor approval. All activities, pageants and field trips must be voted on by the club members with sponsor approval.
Section 6: Rules of
meetings
A. Be punctual for the meeting.
B. Be respectful to officers and other members.
C. Pay attention during the meeting.
D. Put away headphones and cell phones when the meeting starts.
E. Stay in the meeting during the entire meeting unless you have sponsor approval to leave.
F. Clean up after the meeting.
Section 7: Field Trip
Policy
A. All students who go on field trips must be eligible as stated by school policy.
B. Only active members are eligible for field trips.
C. If there are more students who are eligible to go on the field trip than seats, then attendance and the date the field trip permission
form was turned in will decide which students go.
Article VI Royalty
Section 1:
Responsibilities
A. Royalty is to attend all club meetings.
B. Royalty is to help at scheduled activities and food sales.
C. Royalty is to represent C.G.U.H.S, C.V.C.H.S., D.W.H.S. and AMERIND Club at scheduled events.
D. Royalty is to keep in regular contact with the AMERIND Club and with the Pageant Committee.
E. Royalty has to turn in printed grades every nine weeks to the AMERIND Club Sponsor.
Section 2: Rules and
Regulations
A. Each royal must be an enrolled member of a recognized tribe.
B. Each royal
must be a student enrolled at
or
C. Grades will be checked weekly. Each royal must maintain D Average or above. If an F is earned in any
subject at any time during reign,
the royal will be suspended from all activities until the failing grade is made up.
D. Each royal must be able to appear at all scheduled appearances. If for any reason a royal cannot attend a function,
the royal must notify the AMERIND Club three (3) days prior to the appearance.
E. Each royal will always be in proper student conduct, respect authority and property; will abstain from the use
of alcoholic beverages and drugs; will speak with good manners and avoid profanity. Each royal must be in good moral
standing with the community as defined by school policy.
F. There can be no cohabitant and the contestant cannot have children and cannot have intimate relations with the
opposite sex and must not engage in public displays of affection the transgress community norms.
G. In the event that the current titleholders cannot, under any circumstances, fulfill the reign, the first attendant
will be obligated to continue the reign.
Section 3:
Warnings/Removal/Legal and Financial Responsibilities
If one of the Royalty fails to abide by the responsibilities of section 1 and/or the rules and regulations of section 2,
the following will consequences will occur:
A. First Offense will be written warning.
B. Second Offense will be a suspension from any official activities with a required hearing.
C. Third Offense will be termination from the position held.
D. For either the first or second offense, title holders may be subject to removal/termination by the AMERIND Club
if the offense is deemed severe enough.
E. If for any other reason, a royal cannot fulfill his or her responsibilities, the next highest ranking royal will take over t
hose responsibilities.
F. Neither
the AMERIND Club nor
property. The royalty, Mr. and Miss AMERIND, will be held responsible for their crown and sash. If the crown and sash
are lost or stolen, the responsible party and their parents will pay the cost of replacing both items.
H. A parent
of guardian and any royalty contestant must sign both the Mr. and Miss AMERIND CGUHS
